Gospel music legend Yolanda Adams was chosen to sing “America the Beautiful” to open up WrestleMania 35 at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, in front of over 80,000 fans. Following the performance, Adams was interviewed about the experience. She stated that she screamed inside both before and after the performance.
Adams stated that Vince McMahon wanted a “powerful, stirring rendition of ‘America the Beautiful,” and “Vince absolutely loved it.”
The 57-year-old, five-time Grammy Award winner stated that among all of her best moments as a singer, singing at WrestleMania was among her “top two.”
Adams has been married on two occasions. Her first marriage lasted from 1987 to 1990, and her second from 1997-2004. Amidst rumors of her dating current WWE star Titus O’Neil, a member of Adams’ team told The Jasmine Brand regarding their relationship status, “We are flattered that people would love for her and Thaddeus to be a couple. However, they are only best friends and are enjoying sharing red carpets and outings together.”
